| It is with hopeful hearts that we announce an immediate temporary pause of HomeShare Kootenai County operations due to ongoing financial challenges that have impacted the program’s ability to continue delivering services at its current capacity. Effective immediately, the organization will pause new participant matches, intake services, and related programming activities. “This was a difficult but necessary decision,” said Scott Ferguson. “Our priority is ensuring responsible stewardship of resources while continuing to support the individuals we serve. This temporary pause will allow the board time to evaluate operations, strengthen sustainability efforts, and position the program for long-term success in addressing affordable housing needs throughout our region.” As part of this operational pause, HomeShare Kootenai County has also concluded the employment of Program Director Duncan Menzies. We are deeply grateful for Duncan’s leadership, compassion, and commitment to the mission over the past year and a half. “This role has been a great joy to connect with the community, meet people in their homes, and witness the impact of successful matches,” said Menzies. “I take with me deep gratitude for the relationships built and the work HomeShare has accomplished in this community.” During this temporary pause, leadership will focus on:Supporting current participants and transition planning Financial stabilization and organizational review Evaluating long-term program structure and sustainability opportunities. Community partners and stakeholders are being contacted directly to help ensure continuity of care and support where needed. Additional updates will be shared as decisions are made regarding the future direction of the program.
